The 411 on Amazon’s FBA Small and Light Program

In June 2021, Amazon announced new changes to their FBA fulfillment fees which affected all sellers, especially those selling in the Small standard category. So Amazon created Amazon FBA Small and Light, which is perfect for sellers looking to reduce their costs on smaller items and boost sales.

Effective October 29, 2021 – Amazon no longer requires a minimum sales velocity for your ASINs or a minimum number of units per ASIN for each shipment to their fulfillment centers, making it easier for your products to qualify.

What is Amazon FBA Small and Light?

As the name suggests, this Amazon FBA program offers reduced fulfillment costs for small and light items. This is perfect for thoses small, cheap, and fast-moving products. Here is the enrollment guide from Amazon for more info on how to enroll your products.

Amazon Small & Light is available in the following countries: United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, and Japan. However, Canada, Australia, and Mexico don’t have the program yet.

Product Eligibility

The products eligible for the program are those that weigh 10 oz. or less, measure under 16 x 9 x 4 inches or less, and are priced at $7 or less. Products also have to be in new condition and not fall under Amazon’s restricted category. If it’s an existing ASIN, the product must have sold at least 25 units in the past month. Aside from the fees above, all standard fees for selling on Amazon and FBA apply to Small and Light. Using an Amazon FBA fee calculator app can help you accurately predict costs and margins. With Small and Light, products belonging to the Consumables category (Beauty, Health & Personal Care, Grocery, Baby—but not Apparel) that are priced $5 or under are eligible for a 5% discount if the customer orders two or more units of the same item. FBA will cover the cost of the discount so there’s no action required by the seller.
