Amazon Prime Day 2020 is coming soon. Okay, maybe “soon” is a stretch, but it’s never too early to start planning for this big day. Although Amazon has not released the exact date, resources are predicting a date in August!

An avalanche of prime deals are expected to launch in August, which is good for sellers and suppliers that need to start making money again. This is likely a response to COVID-19, which has caused the company to focus on the shipment and delivery of essential goods. Delaying Prime Day until August seems reasonable and could allow for that extra time for the economy and buying habits to start recovering.

How Amazon Prime Day Played out in 2019

The huge sales event began at 12 am on Monday, July 15, and concluded at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, July 16 – spanning 48 hours in total. Based on 2019 and the previous years, here’s what we can assume about Prime Day 2020:

  • It will probably start on a Monday, and span at least two full days like the previous year.
  • The biggest discounts will, of course, apply to Amazon’s products and brands – such as Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick, and Alexa Voice Remote.
  • A one-month delay could create an avalanche of deals and demands, which could give retailers a boost in online sales.

Last year, Amazon announced the Prime Day date on June 25th, just a few weeks before the kick-off. So we’ll most likely have to wait for a while until the official announcement.

Amazon sold more than 175 million items during Prime Day 2019. It had more sales than the past Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. It’s likely to be more successful this year if Amazon can pitch it with a savings theme attached to key essentials.
